[09:39]<@BC_Programming> sup dudes
[09:39]<Tux2> BC_Programming, if you're alive in here: funny thing, I've been on the canary dev team for two weeks, yet some of the long time devs are asking me questions!
[09:40]<Tux2> And I'm talking about the ones that code canary, not plugins
[09:40]<@BC_Programming> from the sounds of things you have more java experience, I would think
[09:42]<Tux2> Lol, guess so.....
[09:45]<Tux2> You know what's funny though: most canary users hate yml
[09:46]<@BC_Programming> yml is like the configuration file equivalent to python, what with the importance of whitespace and EOLs
[09:46]<@BC_Programming> that's not a bad thing, just a random observation
[09:46]<Tux2> Yeah
[09:47] * sonicrules1234 (sonicrules@mib-5B9DFBD3.static.lnbh.ca.charter.com) has joined #glitchpc
[09:47]<Tux2> Morning sonic
[09:48]<@BC_Programming> teehee... I'm tempted to use the new sigbar I made on CH forum and see what happens
[09:48]<@BC_Programming> http://www.bc-programming.com/images/mlpsigbar.png
[09:49]<Tux2> Lol!
[09:49]<sonicrules1234> Tux2: Morningf
[09:49]<sonicrules1234> -f
[09:50]<@BC_Programming> haha I just did it
[09:51]<@BC_Programming> lol...
[09:52]<@BC_Programming> change sig... watch 14664 posts suddenly change
[09:52]<Tux2> :-)
[09:53]<@BC_Programming> I also spammed camerongrays unshortener thing, but it was totally relevant
[09:54]<Tux2> oh, another thing: the guy in charge of canary said I could advertise my bukkit server in my sig...
[09:54]<sonicrules1234> Tux2: No, don't advertise it!
[09:55]<@BC_Programming> sonic: it's still whitelisted though
[09:55]<Tux2> Only thing is, he approached me on the topic, lol....
[09:55]<sonicrules1234> BC_Programming: Ah
[09:55]<sonicrules1234> Tux2: Can't wait till you get the mob arena fixed
[09:56]<@BC_Programming> I replaced the flow control stuff in my clay generator with pistons
[09:56]<sonicrules1234> BC_Programming: I saw
[09:56]<Tux2> Yeah, it still is. Besides, we have big brother, now that I figured out why it was only keeping stuff for three days....
[09:57]<Tux2> Nice! Altra was the first and the one that made me remember
[09:59]<@BC_Programming> I've been playing terraria lately, since it's had a few updates since the last time I played it
[09:59]<Tux2> Well, the regulars are starting to trickle back in.....
[09:59]<@BC_Programming> Yeah I saw fooganders on earlier
[10:00]<sonicrules1234> Nobody is online
[10:00]<Tux2> No one usually is at this time of day....
[10:00]<sonicrules1234> Heh, yeah
[10:01]<Tux2> Oh, bc, you have to see the piston maze
[10:01]<@BC_Programming> I saw a digital diamond on the MC forum that was a piston maze
[10:01]<sonicrules1234> Yeah, me too
[10:02]<Tux2> Lol, yeah, this is version two of it. I imported the schematic into the world.
[10:02]<sonicrules1234> Cool, where is it?
[10:03]<Tux2> It's right past devil boy's house
[10:03]<sonicrules1234> Ok
[10:03]<Tux2> Look at the map if you have trouble finding it
[10:04]<sonicrules1234> Looks like I'll have to wait till day
[10:06]<Tux2> lol...
[10:06]<sonicrules1234> Anybody feel like getting online and going to bed?
[10:08]<Tux2> Is that better sonic?
[10:11]<Tux2> Well, I'm going to get off and take a shower
[10:11]<sonicrules1234> Tux2: Yes
[10:11]<sonicrules1234> Tux2: But minecart mania isn't working
[10:11]<sonicrules1234> Guess I'll have to wait till after the shower
[10:11]<Tux2> Yeah, I know
[10:12]<Tux2> We are coding a fix ourselves
[10:12]<sonicrules1234> Well, db's house is far out so I need minecart mania :P
[10:12]<Tux2> Lol, just walk.
[10:12]<Tux2> You'll effectually get there

[11:10]<Tux2> Nice!!!!
[11:11]<Tux2> lol, some troll in CH posted this:
[11:11]<@BC_Programming> yeah.. I watched that pbat video and was like WANT
[11:11]<Tux2> <dd> The Davis family has five children and one dog. Claudia is 5 years older than Nicki. Nicki's twin brother, Hunter, is 12 years old. The dog is a decade younger than Nicki and 3 years younger than Philip. Philip is only 1 year older than Sara. How old is Sara
[11:11]<@BC_Programming> wtf
[11:12]<Tux2> lol, yeah...
[11:12]<Tux2> <Tux2> This is a computer help chat, not a figure out your math problem chat....
[11:12]<Tux2> That's what I replied with, among the other ones...
[11:13]<@BC_Programming> oooh in the chat
[11:13]<Tux2> Yeah, in the ComputerHope chat
[11:13]<@BC_Programming> see I would have took them for a ride myself
[11:14]<@BC_Programming> "well, see, this question is more complicated than it looks; it isn't stated, for example, whether any of them have a time machine, this would cause some discrepancies"
[11:14]<@BC_Programming> "also, you neglect to mention whether any of them has ever had Lyme disease"
[11:14]<@BC_Programming> etc
[11:14]<Tux2> lol! I should have sooo brought you in so you could mess with his head...

[11:16]<+camerongray> Evening :P
[11:18]<+camerongray> Gah - My shell that should support cron doesn;t :(
[11:19]<@BC_Programming> my webhost supports cron
[11:19]<@BC_Programming> well I don't know actually. there is like a Cronjob item but it might not work
[11:19]<+camerongray> Ahh
[11:19]<Tux2> lol....
[11:19]<+camerongray> Same with mine
[11:19]<@BC_Programming> I shilled unshorten.it on CH btw
[11:19]<+camerongray> Cool - Saw the minecraft one
[11:20]<@BC_Programming> minecraft?
[11:20]<+camerongray> Minecraft Forum
[11:20]<@BC_Programming> oh right, yeah I think I mentioned it on the MC forums as well
[11:20]<Tux2> where did you post about it BC?
[11:20]<@BC_Programming> hold on, will get link
[11:20]<+camerongray> I can use a shell for what I need, says it supports cron but says "Permission Denied"
[11:20]<@BC_Programming> it was on CH
[11:21]<@BC_Programming> http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,121725.msg801086.html#msg801086
[11:21]<+camerongray> That is actually a really good idea
[11:22]<Tux2> wow camerongray, myWOT mentioned unshorten.it in their facebook feed!
[11:22]<Tux2> http://www.facebook.com/weboftrust?v=wall&viewas=0
[11:22]<+camerongray> Yeh - I emailed them :P
[11:22]<+camerongray> And their Twitter
[11:22]<@BC_Programming> very awesome
[11:22]<+camerongray> Boosted visitors like MAD
[11:22]<+camerongray> That's what I need the shell for - phishtank and google safe browsing
[11:23]<Tux2> Nice!
[11:23]<@BC_Programming> good thing my site is more backwater and not heavily visited
[11:23]<Tux2> lol...
[11:23]<@BC_Programming> I keep breaking it, for one thing
[11:23]<Tux2> how much traffic do you get a month camerongray?
[11:23]<@BC_Programming> update plugins... oh woopsie daisy I broke the entire blog
[11:23]<Tux2> lol....
[11:24]<+camerongray> 367 unique visitors so far
[11:24]<+camerongray> Launched on July 4th
[11:24]<Tux2> What do you have it hosted on?
[11:24]<+camerongray> unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk
[11:25]<Tux2> but no cron huh?
[11:25]<+camerongray> Nope
[11:25]<+camerongray> All it needs to do is download a database
[11:25]<+camerongray> With a shell I would download it and make a simple PHP API that I can query
[11:26]<+camerongray> !seen jacky
[11:26]<+camerongray> Dang
[11:26]<+camerongray> I think he has a shell from somewhere
[11:26]<Tux2> :S Well, my VPS still has plenty of bandwidth left if you want to host the site there... I would even give you shell access...
[11:27]<+camerongray> ooh
[11:27]<+camerongray> That would be great
[11:27]<@BC_Programming> unshortenit.bc-programming.com has a nice ring to it
[11:27]<+camerongray> Probably keep the site on UWH but could sure yours for the cron
[11:28]<+camerongray> What badwidth do you have? - The database is about 15mb
[11:28]<Tux2> This is the bandwidth I have used for this month: 9GB Used, 191GB Remaining, 200GB Quota
[11:28]<+camerongray> Ahh :P
[11:28]<Tux2> It gets reset every month.
[11:28]<+camerongray> I probably only need to run the cron daily
[11:29]<+camerongray> The database updates hourly but I don't think it will need to be downloaded that much!
[11:29]<Tux2> lol, so you would only double the data usage...
[11:30]<Tux2> 10.5 GB every month to download the database every hour.
[11:30]<+camerongray> Wow
[11:30]<@BC_Programming> for me Monthly bandwidth transfer: 861.86 / 256000 MB
[11:30]<+camerongray> Might do it every few hours since the database might grow
[11:30]<+camerongray> ANd I will be getting 2
[11:31]<@BC_Programming> woah, I'm using 2GB of space on the webhost
[11:31]<Tux2> lol!
[11:31]<@BC_Programming> but that's cool, it has infinite quota
[11:31]<+camerongray> I have unlimited everything
[11:31]<+camerongray> But no cron :P
[11:31]<@BC_Programming> it's probably because I've basically started just uploading images there rather than photobucket and stuff
[11:32]<Tux2> Hey, any one want to take a shot for making me a nicer looking front page for this: http://myniche.tk/
[11:32]<@BC_Programming> in fact that probably accounts for about 90% of my bandwidth use as well, lol
[11:32]<+camerongray> I could do the CSS and stuff but I have no imagination :P
[11:32]<Tux2> lol, same here.
[11:33]<+camerongray> Are you okay with doing the shell?
[11:33]<Tux2> Okay with you having shell access on the server?
[11:33]<+camerongray> Yeh
[11:33]<+camerongray> Or just an account :P
[11:33]<Tux2> lol, well, I can trust you, right? ;)
[11:33]<+camerongray> ...
[11:33]<+camerongray> Creeper statue?
[11:33]<Tux2> I am making you a web account as well.
[11:34]<+camerongray> Cool
[11:34]<+camerongray> Will need that to request the data
[11:34]<@BC_Programming> probably doesn't help but what I did for my site's design was I basically sketched it out how I wanted it to look, on paper- then I did my best to get it looking exactly as I wanted.
[11:34]<@BC_Programming> that as opposed to my previous site that I just threw together with a few table tags and crappy backgrounds
[11:34]<Tux2> any particular domain names you want me to add to your hosting?
[11:34]<+camerongray> I'll try and make a script to monitor my data usage - Don't want to kill your sever
[11:34]<+camerongray> Nah, don't really need one since I'm just requesting data
[11:35]<+camerongray> Even a whatever.com/~cameron would do
[11:37]<Tux2> lol, okay. You can have a subdomain on any of these domains, or even your own for that matter: mfav.me, myfabs.me, mfavs.me, yfavs.me, tuxreminder.net, tuxreminder.info, tuxreminder.org
[11:37]<+camerongray> hmm
[11:37]<+camerongray> tuxreminder.net?
[11:37]<Tux2> so you could have the subdomain, jr.unshorten.it if you really wanted.
[11:38]<Tux2> Yeah, a few domains I bought.
[11:38]<+camerongray> hmm - probably best to keep it on a non-predicable domain
[11:38]<+camerongray> Since we don't want others using it as a way to avoid having to use cron
[11:38]<Tux2> lol, yeah...
[11:39]<Tux2> What I'll do is give you ssh access and set your home folder to be your web root directory.
[11:39]<Tux2> What do you want your username to be?
[11:39]<+camerongray> erm
[11:39]<+camerongray> camerongray - coz I iz imaginative
[11:40]<Tux2> lol, okay... only one thing: it shortened it to: camerongra for the web control panel
[11:40]<+camerongray> cool
[11:41]<Tux2> Your email address?
[11:41]<+camerongray> cammy@8cake.co.uk
[11:42]<Tux2> Okay, your password was sent to you.
[11:43]<Tux2> what subdomain do you want?
[11:43]<+camerongray> hmm
[11:43]<+camerongray> cameron :P
[11:43]<Tux2> on?
[11:43]<+camerongray> oh - tuxreminder.net
[11:43]<Tux2> Okay
[11:45]<Tux2> DNS entry has been added!
[11:46]<+camerongray> Thanks! - You are awesome!!!!
[11:46]<Tux2> lol, it propagated quickly, that's for sure...
[11:46]<Tux2> no problem. :D
[11:47]<Tux2> give it a few seconds and it will start pointing to the right place on the web host
[11:47]<Tux2> Yup, it's all working now.
[11:47]<@BC_Programming> I didn't know the MC forums had "reputation points"
[11:47]<Tux2> lol, me either... I knew canary did though...
[11:47]<@BC_Programming> I apparently have 94 reputation points
[11:48]<@BC_Programming> I'm going to assume that is good, because the bar is green
[11:48]<@BC_Programming> heh
[11:48]<@BC_Programming> although, my warn status bar is green, too
[11:48]<Tux2> lol...
[11:49]<+camerongray> lol
[11:50]<Tux2> camerongray, did you get the email the control panel sent?
[11:50]<+camerongray> YEh
[11:50]<@BC_Programming> I have some warnings, I remember one was from posting "STOP." in a herobrine thread. I thought it was funny at the time
[11:50]<+camerongray> Where do I log in>
[11:50]<Tux2> http://myniche.tk/jrcp/
[11:51]<+camerongray> cool - thanks
[11:52]<+camerongray> What is the address to use in putty?
[11:52]<Tux2> myniche.tk
[11:52]<Tux2> Still working on the shell access at the moment though...
[11:54]<+camerongray> ahh - no worries
[11:54]<+camerongray> Same login details when you do?
[11:57]<Tux2> yup, just finished.

[12:23]<@BC_Programming> hmm thinking up unique quotes like you see on the minecraft main screen is harder than it looks
[12:24]<@BC_Programming> ok.. "Guaranteed not to cause Mumps"

[12:29]<Tux2> lol, putting random quotes into your game?
[12:30]<@BC_Programming> yeah it's for the quotes on my splash screen
[12:30]<Tux2> ;) thought so... mimicking minecraft are we?

[12:30]<@BC_Programming> all gradienty and all that
[12:30]<Tux2> lol!
[12:30]<Tux2> We should make a free, open source clone of minecraft....
[12:31]<Tux2> With the ability to add new monsters and blocks dynamically from the server.
[12:31]<Tux2> Nah, just kidding... would be cool though...
[12:32]<@BC_Programming> that could probably be done with one client mod and one server mod
[12:32]<@BC_Programming> but people would still need to install a client mod
[12:34]<Tux2> lol, yeah, if we were to mod minecraft... but if we re-created it from scratch...
[12:34]<@BC_Programming> yeah but that's like a fad, everybody seems to be doing that now
[12:35]<@BC_Programming> also, there is an Open Source clone of minecraft :P Manic Digger

[21:25]<@BC_Programming> I don't know if they actually added them, they are described in the bajillion page other thread, basically they wanted to update the nether as well
[21:26]<@BC_Programming> looking through the mod topic now to see if they did
[21:27]<Tux2> lol, I'll be starting a new world and hoping to find lava quickly...
[21:27]<@BC_Programming> I'm just using my 1.7.3 world
[21:27]<@BC_Programming> I start new worlds way too often, lol
[21:28]<@BC_Programming> nope, doesn't look like it
[21:29]<@BC_Programming> "Achievement get: Hostile paradise" I'm in
[21:30]<Tux2> lol. :)
[21:30]<Tux2> Well, I know one thing...
[21:30]<@BC_Programming> wow this is epic
[21:30]<Tux2> I almost exclusively play multiplayer, so I have hardly any SSP mods
[21:30]<@BC_Programming> only mod I had installed was the minimap, personally
[21:31]<Tux2> lol, same here. but what I meant to say was worlds...
[21:31]<@BC_Programming> ahhh
[21:31]<@BC_Programming> yeah I have... a lot
[21:31]<@BC_Programming> going all the way back to my first world that I made with Alpha 1.2.5 :P
[21:39]<Tux2> lol, looks like I installed it correctly
[21:40]<@BC_Programming> yeah I was surprised it worked my first try, given how huge it is
[21:40]<Tux2> ditto
[21:44]<@BC_Programming> awww you can't place normal torches in the aether
[21:46]<Tux2> lol, it's in the original thread...
[21:46]<@BC_Programming> yeah I think I remember that
[21:47]<Tux2> I was talking to my brother about making a semi-clone of minecraft in the car today. It would be different from all the other "clones" though.
[21:47]<@BC_Programming> oh cool... how would it be different
[21:50]<Tux2> Most of the clones try to mimic the original game as much as possible, just for free. My clone will focus more on the "Build your own minecraft" approach, where there will be a block creator so you can create your own blocks, set densities, make different items, new particle effects, make mobs, etc. without even touching the source. You just create away, then use a generator to customize how exactly you want your world spawned, then plug in the r
[21:50]<Tux2> esulting files and run the server. The client connects, downloads all the stuff for your server, then loads the world like usual minecraft.
[21:51]<@BC_Programming> cool
[21:52]<Tux2> A lot of the mods, like sdk's gun mod already do this for minecraft, but with this one, you don't have to mod the client.
[21:56]<Tux2> lol, I found gold before I found iron in this world...
[22:06]<Tux2> now where is the stupid iron on this map!!!!
[23:36]<Tux2> YESSS!!!! I am in the aether
[23:37]<@BC_Programming> I'm off to work now... they just had to release it on the evening when I have to work :P later :D
[23:38]<Tux2> lol, later
